The Center for Information, Communication Technologies & Society (ICT&S) at the Department of Communication Science at the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg is looking for a research assistant to join our team.
About the Center for ICT&S
The Center for ICT&S is concerned with the current transformations of digital change and their consequences for individuals and society. Our research focuses on digital technologies, social change processes and their interactions with politics, business and culture. Our research combines theoretical modeling with empirical analyses in areas such as:
- Sustainability of digital infrastructures
- Network discourse on climate change
- Discourse cultures on social media
- Democracy & digital transformation
- Artificial intelligence & automation of communication
The advertised position is closely linked to the Center’s research profile and to the doctoral program “Internet & Democracy”.
Job details
🔹 Start: as soon as possible
🔹 Duration: 4 years
🔹 Scope of employment: 30 hours per week
🔹 Working hours: by arrangement
🔹 Salary: € 2,786.10 gross (14× per year), with the possibility of an increase depending on previous experience
Areas of responsibility
As a university assistant, you will be actively involved in research and teaching and will have the opportunity to develop your academic career in a targeted manner. Your tasks will include
✔ S cientific support in research and teaching in the field of “Information, Communication Technologies & Society”
✔ Independent research activities, including the preparation and publication of a dissertation
✔ Administrative tasks within the Center
✔ Independent teaching from the second year of service (two semester hours per week)
Requirement profile
Conditions of employment:
✔ Completed diploma or master’s degree in communication science or a related social science subject
✔ Admission to the relevant doctoral program at the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg
Desirable additional qualifications:
✔ Sound knowledge of empirical social science methods
✔ Very good written and spoken English
✔ Interest in academic writing & publishing
✔ Affinity for the internet, digital communication & social change
✔ Experience in project work
Desired personal qualities:
✔ S trong communication skills & ability to work in a team
✔ Initiative & ability to work independently
✔ Networked thinking & analytical skills
