Review of the inaugural lecture by Hanan Badr
On November 25, 2024, the Faculty of Social Sciences at Paris Lodron University Salzburg hosted the inaugural lecture of two new professors. The event, which took place in Lecture Hall 381 on Rudolfskai, offered exciting insights into current social science issues and marked a significant moment for the university. The focus was on Univ.-Prof.in Dr. Hanan Badr, who presented her research on the role of exile journalism in a globalized world in her lecture “Working from the Margins: Exile Journalism, Inequalities and Global Disruptions”.
In addition to Hanan Badr, Prof. Dr. Robert A. Huber from the Department of Political Science also introduced himself. In his inaugural lecture “Climate Politics in Times of Populism”, he addressed the challenges posed by climate change in times of political populism.
The event was opened by Univ.-Prof. Dr. habil. Martin Knoll, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, opened the event. Afterwards, the heads of department, Univ.-Prof. Dr. Josef Trappel (Communication Science) and Univ.-Prof. Mag. M.A. Ph.D. Andreas Dür (Political Science) presented the academic focus of the new professorships.
