Thomas Steinmaurer, communication scientist, Ao. Univ.-Prof. is Head of the Division “Center for ICT&S” at the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Salzburg. The unit is concerned with developments of digital change in society and its significance for individual media practices and democracy on a structural level as well.

For many years, he was chairman of the Austrian Society for Communication Science (ÖGK) and chief editor of its quarterly journal, the “Medien Journal”. Currently, he coordinates the doctoral program “Digital Society and Democracy” and is the head of the research commission of the department.
