Visit by the GUST delegation
Last Tuesday, 11.03.2025, we had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation from the Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST)from Kuwait to visit us. This visit provided a valuable opportunity for scientific exchange and to strengthen international cooperation in the fields of media and communication sciences.
A special highlight was the lunch talk with Dr. Serkan Şavk (Assistant Professor, Mass Communication & Media Department), who presented the exciting concept of “set-going” in Turkish Yeşilçam cinema (1950s-1980s).
The term “set-going” describes the practice of film enthusiasts and local residents actively participating in filming by visiting the film sets and thus facilitating direct encounters between the audience and filmmakers. This concept represents a new, fascinating approach within New Cinema History and offers exciting insights into the film culture of the time.
Another guest was Dr. Cristina Navarro (Associate Professor & Chair of the Mass Communication & Media Department), who visited our Department of Communication Studies to promote interdisciplinary dialog and future cooperation – within the framework of Erasmus mobility and the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two universities.
